Hannah and Owen

Tell us your love story. How did you meet?
Owen, born and bred in Proserpine was travelling south chasing rodeos and fractured his wrist bones in Inverell. His cousin Simon was living in Toowoomba and since Owen couldn’t ride he decided to stay with Simon for a week or two. Hannah, from Toowoomba was saving up to go to Italy so she started a second job at the pub. Her first night working there was Owens first weekend out in Toowoomba. They met and went on their first date the following week. Owen ended up living in Toowoomba for almost three years before he realised he wanted to come home to the farm. The city life wasn’t for him. They packed up and moved to Proserpine 2015.

The Proposal – him or her? Was it a surprise?
It was a surprise! Owen had the ring designed in Mackay which meant multiple trips down to the shop in Mackay… Hannah was none the wiser! He proposed to her on their holiday to Hawaii on the beach as the sun set. It was magical.

Your Honeymoon Plans?
We just returned from two amazing weeks in Japan. We didn’t do much relaxing, but that’s how we travel! So much to see and do so little time! We had a ball.

We fell in love with Earlando for its beauty and privacy. It was the perfect combination of beach, tropical and country that we were looking for. The whole venue was exclusively for us and our guests and that makes it much more intimate.

Why did you choose Earlando? Was there something that made it stand out from other venues for you?
We fell in love with Earlando for its beauty and privacy. It was the perfect combination of beach, tropical and country that we were looking for. The whole venue was exclusively for us and our guests and that makes it much more intimate. While the venue itself is gorgeous and hardly needs any decor, you can decorate Earlando so many ways. It gave us the freedom to create our perfect day. As our experience working with Earlando went on, the family-run-feel really shone through. The owners, managers, event crew and staff are seriously such lovely people, we felt like part of their family.

Did you have a theme to your wedding/wedding styling? What inspired this?
I went with a tropical boho luxe theme. It kind of just evolved as the planning went on. Owen didn’t have much concern as to themes and decor so I could run amok! Since I was a little girl I have always loved lots of tropical foliage so it was inevitable that was going to be incorporated! We commissioned a beautiful macrame piece for our arbour and it is a keepsake from the day. And a few gold touches on the tables and on my bridesmaids helped add a little sparkle! I’m so happy with how the day looked. My suppliers were incredible.

What was your favourite part of your wedding?
That is too hard to answer! We both loved all of it. It was the most fun from the morning till the end with our most favourite people, marrying the love of your life.. The whole day was outstanding.

Do you have any advice for future brides?
I do have to say that as much as a wedding planner was never on my radar when we first got engaged… She made the whole 18 months a breeze! I was hardly stressed. She was incredible, she totally got what I meant and what I liked and how I liked things… so I didn’t have to stress! Pretty sure you can count my total stressed days on one hand. Roxanne from Wedding Planners Whitsundays, you are a lifesaver!

Tell us a a funny story about your wedding day/wedding planning!
Summer got a photo of the bridal party, we look great and candid, but if you look close enough you will be able to notice that we are all laughing because Owen is growling.

Is there anything else you would like to add?
It’s been so much fun planning our wedding. The day was perfect. And now we have some wonderful photos and memories. I’d love to do it again next weekend! Thanks again!
