TERRIANN AND MATTHEW

Tell us your love story. How did you meet?
Matthew had just moved from Tasmania to Airlie Beach in search of greener pastures. He was invited to a Hawaiian themed boat party to celebrate Terriann’s 25th birthday through a mutual friend.  Matthew’s mates tried to set him up with one of Terriann’s good friends but Matthew only had eyes for Terriann. He pursued her for a few months as they got to know each other and then the rest is history.

The Proposal – him or her? Was it a surprise?:
Matthew cannot keep secrets or surprises from Terriann so as soon as he got the call from the jewellers that Terriann’s custom made ring was ready he raced in to collect it. That night when Terriann arrived home from work she walked into a room full of candles, fairy lights, Matthew impressively dressed and a bottle of bubbles. Matthew made Terriann sit down and watch a mini movie that he had put together with a song. It was all of their memories of the years together and the last photo was a photo of Terriann’s hand with a Spiderman ring on it (one of her Prep students had proposed to her at school) and then Matt got down on his knee and said “I know you’ve been asked before, but I’m asking you now” . Terriann said “yes” and they enjoyed an elaborate night out together at one of Melbourne’s renown restaurants, Taxi Kitchen.

Your Honeymoon Plans
5 nights in Bali Seminyak relaxing by the pool, drink cocktails and Bin Tangs and enjoying the married life.

Why did you choose Earlando? Was there something that made it stand out from other venues for you?
We wanted somewhere that highlighted the beauty of the Whitsundays and our continual love for this place. Earlando was a secluded venue right on the beachfront with lots of space and flexibility to create a wedding to your own desires.  We lived in Airlie for 5 years and as soon as we heard about Earlando we knew it was the place for us!

Did you have a theme to your wedding/wedding styling? What inspired this?
I used Pinterest a lot! I knew that I didn’t want anything elaborate but I just wanted a coastal look with fresh whites, rustic wooden pieces and some soft pinks to match our bouquets.

What was your favourite part of your wedding?
Enjoying a glass of bubbles on top of the lookout at Earlando, just the two of us. The photographer and videographer were great and gave us lots of space and different moments just to enjoy each others company and the fact that we had just become Mr and Mrs. Also on the jetty at Earlando we could look back in the distance at our wedding guests on the foreshore and see what we had created and the good time that they were having.

Do you have any advice for future brides?
Expect the unexpected. There will be little things that happen in the lead up to your big day and it will be hard not to let them get you down or stress you out but just expect the worst and you will be right. We had a few hiccups in the months leading up, even the week before a few things popped up and even the night before but we just accepted them, asked ourselves ‘what can we do about this?’ and focused on the positive. We still got married and all went well 🙂

Tell us a a funny story about your wedding day/wedding planning!
Matthew’s best man (his brother) Jake started his speech with a recount of something that had happened earlier that day. Matt got terrible gastro the night before the wedding and on the wedding day Jake started his speech with “I thought I’d heard some pretty funny one liners in my time but Matt got me today with what was by far the best… I looked at him before we were about to stand in front of everyone at the front of the aisle  and I asked him why he was smiling. He said ‘I just farted and I wasn’t sure if it was a dry one but I’m safe. First dry fart in 24hrs.”

Is there anything else you would like to add?
